Emily Baby Skirt

Here is the Emily Baby Skirt to match the Emily Baby Bonnet


To fit 0-3 months; 3-6 months; 6-12 months; 1-3 years

Materials: 1 Skein UK DK (8ply/ #3) yarn;  3.75mm hook; yarn needle.

Abbreviations: sc = single crochet; dc = double crochet; hdc = half double crochet; sk = skip; sl st = slip stitch; beg = beginning; rep = repeat; fpdc = front post double crochet; bpdc = back post double crochet; ch = chain; yo = yarn over; sp = space.

Special Stitch: Dc Cluster: Yo, insert yarn into next st, pull yarn through, yo, pull through 2 loops, yo, insert hook into same st, pull yarn through, yo, pull through 2 loops, yo, insert hook into same st, pull yo through, yo, pull through 2 loops, yo, pull through rem 4 loops, ch1.

Gauge:  7 dc clusters and 7 rows of dc clusters wit 3.75mm hook = 4”.


Pattern is written in US terms; a conversion chart is included at the end.



Pattern:

0-3 months;   Waist 16” – 18”; Length 5.5”-6”

(1):  Using 3.75mm hook, foundation stitch sc 60 sts; alternatively, chain 61 sts, sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc to end, turn.

(2):  Ch1, hdc in same st, hdc across, join to beg hdc, being careful not to twist.

(3):  Ch1, *fpdc in 1st st, bpdc in next st*, rep from * to * to end, sl st to beg fpdc.

(4):  Ch1, repeat Row (3)

(5):  Ch1, sc in same st, sc all around, sl st to beg sc.

(6):  Ch1, sc in same st, *2sc in next, sc in next 2 sts*, rep from * to * to end, sl st to first sc.

(7):  Ch1, 2 sc in same st, sc 4, *2 sc in next, sc 3*, rep from * to * to last st, 2sc in last st, sl st to beg sc.

(8):  Ch3, 1 dc cluster (see special stitch above) in same st; *sk 1, 1 dc cluster in next st*; rep from * to * to end; sl st to beg dc cluster then sl st to first space.

(9): Ch3, 1 dc cluster in same sp; 1 dc cluster in next and every following space to end;  sl st to beg cluster then sl st to first space.

(10): Rep Row (9) until skirt measures 5”, or length desired.

Next Row:  Ch1, sc in every stitch around.  Sl st to beg sc.

Next Row:  Ch3, 4 dc in same st, *sk 2 sts, 5 dc in next st*; rep to end.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

3-6 months: Waist 18”-19”; Length 6”-6.5”

(1):  Using 3.75mm hook, foundation stitch sc 70 sts; alternatively, chain 71 sts, sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc to end, turn.

(2):  Ch1, hdc in same st, hdc across, join to beg hdc, being careful not to twist.

(3):  Ch1, *fpdc in 1st st, bpdc in next st*, rep from * to * to end, sl st to beg fpdc.

(4):  Ch1, repeat Row (3)

(5):  Ch1, sc in same st, sc all around, sl st to beg sc.

(6):  Ch1, sc in same st, *2sc in next, sc in next 2 sts*, rep from * to * to end, sl st to first sc.

(7):  Ch1, 2 sc in same st, sc 4, *2 sc in next, sc 3*, rep from * to * to last st, 2sc in last st, sl st to beg sc.

(8):  Ch3, 1 dc cluster (see special stitch above) in same st; *sk 1, 1 dc cluster in next st*; rep from * to * to end; sl st to beg dc cluster then sl st to first space.

(9): Ch3, 1 dc cluster in same sp; 1 dc cluster in next and every following space to end;  sl st to beg cluster then sl st to first space.

(7):  Ch1, 2 sc in same st, sc 4, *2 sc in next, sc 3*, rep from * to * to last st, 2sc in last st, sl st to beg sc.

(8):  Ch3, 1 dc cluster (see special stitch above) in same st; *sk 1, 1 dc cluster in next st*; rep from * to * to end; sl st to beg dc cluster then sl st to first space.

(4 & 5):  Ch1, repeat Row (3)

(6):  Ch1, *fpsc in 1st st, bpsc in next st*, rep from * to * to end, sl st to beg fpsc.

(7):  Ch1, sc in same st, *2sc in next, sc in next 2 sts*, rep from * to * to end, sl st to first sc.

(8):  Ch1, 2 sc in same st, sc 4, *2 sc in next, sc 3*, rep from * to * to last st, 2sc in last st, sl st to beg sc.

(9):  Ch3, 1 dc cluster (see special stitch above) in same st; *sk 1, 1 dc cluster in next st*; rep from * to * to end; sl st to beg dc cluster then sl st to first space.

(10): Ch3, 1 dc cluster in same sp; 1 dc cluster in next and every following space to end;  sl st to beg cluster then sl st to first space.

(11): Rep Row (10) until skirt measures 7.25”, or length desired.

Next Row:  Ch3, 4 dc in same st, *sk 2 sts, 5 dc in next st*; rep to end.  Fasten off and weave in ends.

Tie Cord:  Chain 130.  1 Sc into 2nd chain from hook.  2sc into same chain, then work 3 sc into the next 9 chain.  1 sc into each chain to the last 10 chain.  3sc into each of the last 10 chain.  Fasten off.  Thread tie cord through between the front post stitches of the waistband, and tie in a bow at the front.
