Men’s Ribbed Beanie

A simple ribbed beanie for the men in your life.  This pattern can be used to make the black wide brim hat, or the Silver and Black slouchy hat, in any colour/s you choose.

The black (wide brim) version is best worked with a heavy worsted weight yarn such as Lion Brand’s Vanna’s Choice.  I used color “Charcoal Print”, which is 100% Acrylic and comes in 85g skeins (145 yds per skein) for the black marl hat, and I used 1 skein Stylecraft Special aran in Silver for the second version, with a simple black trim.  You will need 1 ½ skeins in total for this project as it’s a bit of a wool-eater.  The end result though is a great beanie for your special guy.

Materials:  1 ½ skeins worsted weight yarn (aran/ 10ply) in the colour/s of your choice; 5.5mm hook; yarn needle.

Abbreviations:  sc = single crochet; hdc = half double crochet; fphdc = front post half double crochet; bphdc = back post half double crochet; beg = beginning; rep = repeat; sl st = slip stitch.

Gauge:  12 sts and 12 rows working fphdc, hdc ribbing on 5.5mm hook = 4”

Measurements: 22”-24” circumference; 11” length.

Pattern is written in US terms; a conversion chart is included at the end.
