There is a true saying that if you do not know how to care for yourself, you cannot properly care for others. If you wear yourself out, you have nothing left.
Crochet has saved a lot of people from depression, grief, anxiety related issues, and so much more. For some, it keeps them sane. For the care-givers, it gives the carer time to themselves - a different world, a different interest, that can often be the one thing that helps them to keep coping.
